Our Story

We are a 3rd generation family run business that was founded by my Grandfather Donald Rodgers in 1966 when he opened Southend Sports Centre along Southchurch Road, Southend-on-Sea. On the shop’s grand opening the famous Bobby Moore and Jimmy Greaves opened the store to the public.

Skip forward a few years and Southend Sports Trophies was opened along Sutton Road which was owned by my Father Clive Rodgers up until his devasting passing in September 2025.

Due to circumstances out of our control we had to close the Southend Sports Trophies shop at the end of 2025, however my husband and I were adamant this would not be the end to our family business, we decided to continue as a home run business for the present time until we locate a suitable retail space.

I spent my childhood in the shop with my Dad learning the ropes including engraving, trophy, shield and medal making. Then in recent years I relearnt the same ropes to help support my Dad with his work load when his illness progressed. I have over 18 years retail and customer service experience in a well know large retail company, including a time working as a senior manager within the retail sector, therefore I hope you will believe that you will be in good hands with us and will receive exceptional service.

We are truly thankful and humbled by the support we have received so far from my Dad’s loyal customers who continue to trust us in providing the high quality products and service they are a customed to receiving from our business.

Looking to the future, we are hoping to expand the business to reach new customers as well as continuing to provide our current customers with the highly professional service they deserve.
